Dr. Chang has also conducted research into complementary and alternative therapies. In addition to the pain management protocol she uses with hand patients (see hand surgery) she also provides her patients with a unique pain management tools the Electro-Acuscope and the Electro-Myopulse. These instruments use micro-current electrical impulses to manage acute or chronic pain. Due to the extremely low amperage, they offer therapy with little or no discomfort.
The Electro-Acuscope is a pain-management device designed to specifically heal nerve tissues. The software is designed to address cellular imbalances and reestablish electrical conductivity in and around diseased and injured nerve tissue. The micro-current targets damaged cells and assists them in self-correcting their electrical signal. Once the electrical balance is reestablished, blood flow can return to the affected area and the damaged cells begin to reverse their condition and return to a healthy state.
The Electro-Myopulse is specifically designed to normalize cellular imbalances in the connective tissue, including bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. The micro-current targets damaged cells and assist them in correcting their electrical signal. These electrical currents open up the damaged area to increased blood flow and circulation so that it can rapidly begin treating soft-tissue injuries by the body's own natural processes.
