Office Policies

Plastic surgery includes two types of surgery: 1) reconstructive surgery, which repairs injury, damage, or congenital difference and 2) cosmetic surgery, which includes optional procedures to enhance patients' appearance. In general reconstructive surgery may be covered by medical insurance, while cosmetic surgery must be paid by the patient.

Even in the case of reconstructive surgery, medical insurance is a contract between the insurance company and the insured. Patients are responsible for understanding what aspects of medical care are covered under the specific Certificate of Coverage provided by their individual insurance plan. Any amount not covered is the patient's responsibility.

Hand and Plastic Surgery of Iowa accepts all major credit cards and other forms of payment, such as check or cash. The fee for initial consultations for cosmetic procedures is $100.

The first step toward scheduling a procedure is the initial consultation, a sit-down meeting with Dr. Chang to discuss a problem or a desire for change. During the consultation, you'll meet Dr. Chang's staff, and learn more about your pre-operative visit, surgery or treatment, follow-up, and financial options.
